SORRENTO

Sorrento needs no introduction, it is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. You just need to stroll around the alleys of the old town and look out from its panoramic terraces to understand why.

The beauty of Sorrento is also the ease with which it can be visited: the centre is small and can be seen easily on foot. Starting from Piazza Tasso, Sorrento’s main square, you can walk along the whole of Corso Italia, the main shopping street, and then come back via the intersections and backstreets of the historic town centre of Greek origin.

It is worth stopping to admire the painted vaults of the Sedil Dominova and then continue to the municipal villa overlooking the sea. Next to the villa is the church of St. Francis with a lovely, small adjoining fourteenth century monastic cloister.
